Terme Čatež is the largest thermal resort in Slovenia — a full-scale holiday destination with indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, hotels, camping, and enough facilities to keep an entire family occupied for a week. It sits in the Posavje region near the Krka river confluence, right on the edge of the Croatian border.
This is not a quiet retreat. It is a proper resort destination: lively in summer, popular with families, and busy on weekends. If that is what you are after — good infrastructure, plenty of choice, warm water — Čatež delivers reliably.
From Ljubljana Airport, the drive south is about an hour. The route takes you through the outskirts of Ljubljana and then southeast through the Dolenjska hills to the Sava river valley. One of the easier spa transfers from Brnik.
