The setting is outstanding: a lakeside villa on the Wörthersee, one of Austria's warmest lakes, with the Karawanken Alps rising to the south. The lake is genuinely beautiful in every season.
From Ljubljana Airport, the fastest route avoids the Karawanken tunnel (which adds a toll and zigzag) and goes via the Ljubelj mountain pass instead — a winding but scenic road through the Alps that brings you to Klagenfurt and then the lake in about an hour. We know this route well.
