Your Options from Zadar to Brnik Airport
Zadar is one of Dalmatia's most rewarding cities — and your flight home leaves from Ljubljana. Here's how to make the connection.
🚖 Private transfer — most direct
~340km · ~3h 30min · pickup from your Zadar hotel or accommodation
from €430 car (up to 4)
The A1 motorway runs directly from Zadar north through Zagreb and into Slovenia. We pick you up at your door and drive straight to Ljubljana Airport departures. No Schengen border stop since Croatia joined in January 2023.
🚌 Bus — very slow for airport travel
Zadar → Zagreb: ~3h · Zagreb → Ljubljana: ~2h · then airport: ~25min
There are regular buses from Zadar to Zagreb. From Zagreb you continue by bus or train to Ljubljana, then take a shuttle to Brnik. Total journey 7+ hours with changes and waiting. Acceptable for backpackers with flexible plans; not practical for an airport connection.
✈️ Fly from Zadar Airport (ZAD)
If you're flexible about which airport you fly from, Zadar has its own airport (ZAD) with seasonal routes across Europe. Check whether flying from Zadar is an option before booking from Ljubljana. If you're committed to Ljubljana (Brnik), a private transfer is the practical solution.
🚗 Rental car
If you have a rental, the drive is 340km — about 3h 30min on the motorway. Return the car at Brnik. Factor in fuel, Croatian and Slovenian motorway tolls, and a Slovenian vignette (available at the border or online).
