Transfer to Lake Bohinj
Why Bohinj?
If Lake Bled is Slovenia's postcard, Lake Bohinj is its best-kept secret. This is where Slovenians themselves go when they want to escape.
Lake Bohinj is the country's largest natural lake — twice the size of Bled — but receives a fraction of the visitors. Surrounded on all sides by the peaks of Triglav National Park, it feels wonderfully remote.
The water is crystal clear and cold, fed by mountain streams. In summer you can swim, kayak, or paddleboard. In autumn, the surrounding forests turn gold and crimson. In winter, the valley is silent under snow.
There are no big hotels lining the shore. No souvenir shops every few meters. Just a quiet lake, a stone bridge, a small church, and mountains as far as you can see.
Things to Do at Bohinj
- Swim in the lake — several beaches along the shore, water is refreshing even in summer
- Vogel Cable Car — ride up to 1,535 meters for breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and the Julian Alps
- Savica Waterfall — a dramatic 78-meter waterfall, a short hike from the western end of the lake
- Mostnica Gorge — a beautiful gorge walk with turquoise pools and the famous "Elephant" rock
- Church of St. John the Baptist — a medieval church by the stone bridge with centuries-old frescoes
- Kayaking and paddleboarding — rentals available at the lake
- Hiking — trails range from easy lakeside walks to serious alpine climbs up Triglav

Good to Know
What's the difference between Bled and Bohinj?
Bled is more developed — castle, island, restaurants, nightlife. Bohinj is wilder, quieter, and more about nature. Many visitors do both, spending 1–2 nights at each.
Is Bohinj good for families?
Perfect. The lake has gentle beaches, the water is shallow near the shore, and there are easy walks suitable for children. Vogel cable car is a hit with kids too.
Can I visit Bohinj as a day trip from Bled?
Yes, it's only 30 minutes by car. But Bohinj deserves at least one night — the evenings by the lake, when the day-trippers have left, are magical.
