The old town is car-free, centered around the Ljubljanica River and lined with cafés that spill onto cobblestone streets. Above it all sits Ljubljana Castle, connected to the city by a funicular.

From the Airport to Your Hotel
Ljubljana Airport (Jože Pučnik Airport, LJU) is about 25 km north of the city, near the town of Brnik. The drive to the city center takes about 25–30 minutes.

How long should I spend in Ljubljana?
Two days is ideal — enough to see the castle, explore the old town, enjoy the food scene, and get a feel for the city. Ljubljana is also a perfect base for day trips to Bled, Postojna Cave, or the coast.
Is Ljubljana expensive?
Compared to Western European capitals, Ljubljana is quite affordable. Good restaurant meals cost €10–20, coffee is €2–3, and most attractions are reasonably priced or free.
Can I walk everywhere in the center?
Yes. The old town is small and completely pedestrian. You can walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes. Most hotels, restaurants, and sights are within walking distance.
