What to See on the Drive from Rovinj to Slovenia

The drive from Rovinj to Ljubljana isn't just a transfer — it's a gradual shift from the Mediterranean to the Alps. Here's what you pass through:

• Poreč — 35 km north of Rovinj, home to the Euphrasian Basilica (UNESCO). If you haven't been, a quick stop on the way out is easy to arrange.
• Učka Mountain — the boundary between Istria and the Croatian mainland. The tunnel is the fast option; the old mountain road above is dramatic if you have time.
• Piran (Slovenia) — 1h 30min from Rovinj, the most beautiful town on the Slovenian coast. Venetian architecture, tiny harbour, excellent seafood. Worth a 2-hour stop on any itinerary. The transfer price from Rovinj to Ljubljana via Piran is the same — just ask us to route through.
• Kras/Karst plateau — the limestone plateau between the coast and Ljubljana. Prosciutto country. The small town of Štanjel has an impressive hilltop castle if you pass in daylight.
• Ljubljana — if you're not going all the way to the airport, we can drop you in the city centre, at Bled, or anywhere in Slovenia.
