Leaving Vrsar

Vrsar is a small fishing village on the western Istrian coast — quiet harbour, old town on a hill, surrounded by the Lim Fjord nature reserve. Beautiful, but without direct transport links. Getting to Ljubljana Airport by public transit means a bus to Poreč, then another to Ljubljana, then an airport shuttle — most of a day.

We pick you up from your villa, apartment or hotel in Vrsar and take you directly wherever you need to go.

Vrsar — The One Most Tourists Drive Past

Vrsar sits between Poreč (15 km north) and Rovinj (15 km south), and most visitors drive straight through without stopping. Which is exactly why it's worth staying. The old town is a cluster of stone houses on a hill above the sea — genuine medieval Istria without the crowds of its more famous neighbours.

Vrsar is also where the naturist resort of Koversada operates — one of the oldest and largest in Europe, established in the 1960s. If that's not your scene, it doesn't affect the rest of the town at all. The harbour, the hilltop church, and the weekly outdoor market are all separate.

The sculptor Dušan Džamonja lived and worked in Vrsar for much of his career — his sculpture park is on the hillside above the town and is free to visit. Unusual and worth 20 minutes if you have time before your transfer.

Transfer Timing from Vrsar — Practical Notes

Vrsar is equidistant from two motorway on-ramps: north via Poreč to the A9, or south via Rovinj (longer in summer traffic). We take the Poreč route for airport transfers — it's faster and more predictable.

Vrsar has limited parking near the old town — hotels on the edge of town or in the marina area are easiest for pickup. Tell us your accommodation name and we'll confirm the meeting point.
